Friday Night Political Philosophy

Beginning this week and every Friday until the election
Friday, July 6, 2012
6:00pm
 until 7:30pm

The people here at the Coastal Democratic Headquarters have asked that I help host a weekly conversation on the subject of political philosophy. This is very informal, but there are basic concepts about the nature of our democracy that need to be exposed.

This week we will discuss the nature of civic responsibility and the duty of citizens. To participate please watch the first 27 minutes of the video here: http://www.justiceharvard.org/2011/02/episode-05/#watch

Harvard's Michael Sandel asks some basic qu

estion about the nature of public service, military conscription, and the privilege of citizenship.

Please join us at the San Diego Costal Democrats Headquarters, 1946 Balboa Ave. (between Grand And Garnet) in Pacific Beach. 8-10 pm (eat dinner first)

That decides it, we need mandatory public service for all Americans. Thanks for those who came to discuss the proper roll of government tonight. Next week, is consent necessary for taxation? Or must each new generation be required to pay taxes for the services and protections they enjoy from our democratic government?

They want us to use world cafe rules:

Great opportunity to share ideas, discuss critical issues, and expand our understanding of the values that matter.
